Region 7-AAAAAA tightens with Peachtree Ridge 35-2 win over Norcross

Peachtree Ridge gives Norcross their first region loss in in blowout style, 35-2.

The Norcross Blue Devils began Week 10 play as the lone undefeated team in Region 7-AAAAAA and finish as one of four teams that sit at 4-1 after falling to the Peachtree Ridge Lions in blowout style on Friday night, 35-2. Mill Creek and North Gwinnett won their games by large margins to join Norcross and Peachtree Ridge with 4-1 league marks with just two weeks remaining in the regular season.

Week 10 Game Results

Collins Hill 7 @ Mill Creek 51

In a game that looked like a good matchup on paper, Mill Creek dominated Collins Hill in every aspect and the final score reflected the Hawks dominance on this night. Mill Creek led 14-0 after the first quarter of play, 23-0 at the break and 37-0 as the final stanza began. The Eagles, defending region champions, didn’t score until the final minute of the game.

Player of the Game: Johnathan Hawkins (Mill Creek) scored four rushing touchdowns while racking up 131 yards on 25 carries, including a 40 yard jaunt.

Mountain View 42 @ Meadowcreek 0

Mountain View and Meadowcreek both took the field Friday night in search of their first region victory of the season and they exited with the Mustangs one of two teams still without a league win after the Bears took control early and never let off the gas on the way to a six-touchdown shutout victory.

Player of the Game: Nick Harris (Mtn. View) totaled 111 yards rushing and scored twice.

Norcross 2 @ Peachtree Ridge 35

Two-time defending state champion Norcross scored first in their game with Peachtree Ridge when the Devil defense came up with a safety late in the first quarter to take a 2-0 lead, but it turned out that would be the highlight of the night for Norcross as Peachtree Ridge ran off 35 unanswered points to hand the Blue Devils their first loss in region and grab the advantage in the race for the region crown.

Player of the Game: QB Chance Thrasher (14-for-22 for 212 yards and two TDs) and Na’ceem Antenor (27 rushes for 142 yards and three TDs including one of 62 yards) share Player of the Game.

Na'ceem Antenor (20) carried the ball 27 times for 142 yards and three TDs for Peachtree Ridge against Norcross.

 North Gwinnett 71 @ Duluth 24

North Gwinnett led 51-0 at the half and went on to a 71-24 win over Duluth that saw quarterback John Urzua pass for 353 yards and seven-yes seven-touchdowns, five of which went to Josh Imatorbhebhe who tallied 206 yards on six receptions.

Player of the Game: Urzua and Imatorbhebhe were unstoppable and teamed up for 30 points in the blowout.

North WR Josh Imatorbhebhe (7) had five TD catches on just six receptions on his way to 206 receiving yards.
