The Archer Tigers finish the season as the No. 2 ranked team in the state by SCORE Atlanta.

The SCORE Atlanta final football rankings have been released and Gwinnett County is home to four of the top 10 teams in AAAAAA, Georgia’s largest classification, including three of the top five. Archer (No. 2), Dacula (No. 3), Grayson (No. 5), and North Gwinnett (No. 9) all finished in the Top 10 in the SCORE final rankings for the 2014 season. Archer (11-4), Dacula (10-2) and Grayson (10-2) represent Region 8 while North Gwinnett (8-3), the 2013 state runner up to Norcross, is out of Region 7.

As has become the norm, the 2014 season saw the county field a number of outstanding teams and players and the number of returning players for next season promises another great year of football across Gwinnett. The county is the SEC of the Georgia High School Football Association, and only grows stronger.

Region 7

Look for Collins Hill, Mill Creek, North, Norcross, and Peachtree Ridge to battle for the four playoff spots next season with Mountain View playing spoiler as they continue to build a solid program. Duluth and Meadowcreek will continue to be the underdogs in the region, but always show heart and will continue to compete.

Region 8

As evidenced by the rankings, the region was stronger this season than county rival Region 7. Expect Archer, Dacula and Grayson to be tough again next season. The emergence of Central along with the second year of a new head coach at Parkview and a new top man at Brookwood means Region 8 will be even more competitive in 2015. Shiloh and Berkmar will continue to battle, but don’t have the depth of the other schools in football.
