The Atlanta Braves announced on Tuesday that John Moses has been selected as the new manager of the Gwinnett Braves. Moses replaces Rick Albert, who has been reassigned to the Braves’ Gulf Coast League affiliate.

Moses posted a 1-1 mark as the G-Braves acting manager immediately following the promotion of former Gwinnett manager Brian Snitker to Atlanta as the interim manager on May 17-18. The earlier stint was the first managerial experience for the 58-year old Moses after nearly two decades in coaching, including four seasons in the Atlanta Braves’ organization as a hitting coach at Advanced-A Lynchburg (2013-14) and Double-A Mississippi (2014) before joining Gwinnett ahead of the 2015 season.

Moses coaching career includes stops as a minor league hitting coach with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2008-10) and Houston Astros (2011) as well as Major League duties with the Seattle Mariners (2000-04, 2007), Cincinnati Reds (2005-06).

Prior to his coaching career, Moses played 769 games in the Majors with the Seattle Mariners (1982-87, 1992), Minnesota Twins (1988-90) and Detroit Tigers (1991). He batted .254 with 11 home runs, 145 RBIs and stole 101 bases in his 11 seasons in the show.

Albert was 10-13 in 23 games as the Gwinnett skipper, his first Triple-A assignment after being promoted to the post from the Gulf Coast League after Snitker, who was 19-20 in 39 games, headed down I-85 to take the reins in Atlanta.
