Randy Staats led Georgia in scoring, and is a leading contender for the NLL Rookie of the Year after being selected with the No. 6 overall pick in last season's draft.

The National Lacrosse League released the official order of selection for the 2016 NLL Draft late last week, including compensatory selections awarded to teams ahead of the 2017 season, and the Georgia Swarm owns the Nos. 4, 8 and 10 selections in the opening round. The Swarm will have 12 picks, including 10 in the first three rounds, in this year’s draft.

Georgia was one of three clubs that was awarded compensatory draft selections as a result of losing players to unrestricted free agency ahead of last season.

The Swarm used a league-high four first-round picks in the 2015 Draft to put together what was arguably one of the most talented group of rookie teammates in league history when Lyle Thompson (No. 1), Jesse King (No. 3), Chad Tutton (No. 5) and Randy Staats (No. 6) were selected. Both King and Staats are finalists for the NLL Rookie of the Year Award, which will be announced at the league season awards in late September.

In their first season in the league, L. Thompson tallied 60 points (27+33), King totaled 77 (22+55), Tutton-a transition player-contributed 33 (14+8) and Staats led the Swarm in scoring with 95 (36+59).

Staats 95 points set a new rookie scoring record, and his 59 assists broke the previous rookie mark of 54 which should result in being named the NLL Rookie of the Year nod.

Specific information regarding the 2016 NLL Draft will be announced by the end of the summer.
