This is the first of a weekly listing of games involving county teams. With region action drawing near, the stakes are high every week in a county with such incredible competition, so scoreboard watching becomes a necessity.

Because of the number of teams in Gwinnett (24), the teams are listed alphabetically with county teams in red. Overall season records are included. Once region competition begins, the schedule will divide by Class and Region.

County pairings of the week:

Four of the 13 games involving county teams feature Gwinnett pairings. Of the county head-to-head contests, Mill Creek at Archer looks to be the game of the week. The Hawks are the No. 2 ranked team in the state by MaxPreps, and have looked impressive in victories against Colquitt County (34-27), Stephenson (32-7), and Dacula (30-0). Archer opened with a loss to McEachern (27-14), but then rebounded with a 20-19 win over Peachtree Ridge.

Mill Creek looks poised to improve to 4-0, but expect Archer to battle to the end.
