Parkview QB Caleb Mitchell among best Week 8 performances

As usual, Week 8 of the Georgia High School Association football season included a number of outstanding efforts by Gwinnett County players. Gwinnett Sports Report has selected five that stand out as the Top Performances of the Week.

The five players selected were instrumental to victories for their team. 

Top Performances of the Week

 Parkview QB Caleb Mitchell threw seven touchdown passes in a 63-30 victory over Lakeside of Atlanta. Mitchell completed 20 of 26 attempts for 424 yards.

 

Brookwood QB Angelo DiSpigna passed for 302 yards and five touchdowns in a 54-0 victory over Meadowcreek.

 

Buford RB Christian Turner rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns on just six carries in a 48-0 victory over Johnson of Gainesville that saw Turner play just the opening quarter.

 

Grayson QB Chase Brice was 11-of-15 passing for 235 yards and three touchdowns in a 70-6 victory over Shiloh that saw Brice sit out the second half. It is the fourth consecutive game in which Brice has thrown for three scores.

 

Lanier DT Peyton Bergman had 11 tackles, four for losses, and had a sack in a 34-21 victory over Winder-Barrow.

 

With the postseason battle heating up, look for Week 9 to include more stellar efforts from county athletes.
