The first two weeks of the new season were the most competitive the league has delivered with the Mist defeating the Austin Acoustics (0-1) by 20, 46-26, to open the 2017 LFL season, and the Omaha Heart (1-1) downing the Pittsburgh Rebellion (0-2) by 23, 32-9 the following week. Since then, the scoring gap has been 87, 35, 73, and 106 resulting in a combined margin of victory of 301 points and an average game score of 75-8. Factor in the first two weeks of the season, and the average score for the 2017 LFL season is 63-12.
The league is in need of a good game, and the Week 7 match-up between the Atlanta Steam (1-0) and the Chicago Bliss (1-0) promises to be just that. Atlanta will travel to Chicago looking to break a winless streak against the defending champions that includes a string of regular season losses, a loss in the lone Atlanta appearance in the Legends Cup when the Bliss were members of the West, and the East Conference title game after Chicago changed conferences the following season.
