Atlanta Gladiators 2017 Weekly: Week 1

With the end of the Atlanta Gladiators 2017 training camp coming on Wednesday, roster activity has increased dramatically over the last few days. The camp concludes with an open session at the Duluth Ice Forum that will begin at 10:00 a.m. The 15th anniversary season kicks off at the Infinite Energy Arena on Friday, October 20 when the Florida Everblades visit.

 

With the opening of the regular season, Gwinnett Sports Report will begin doing a weekly Gladiator feature that will include game results, roster activity, league news, etc. This is the first of the weekly feature.

Roster Activity October 2 – October 9

October 2: The Providence Bruins (AHL) released forwards Chase Witale, Phil Lane and Alex Gacek and defenseman Zach Malateste from their tryouts, and all reported to Atlanta.

October 3: The Providence Bruins (AHL) assigned goalie Matt Ginn to the Gladiators.

October 5: The San Antonio Rampage (AHL) assigned defenseman Josh Atkinson to Atlanta and released forward Colin Jacobs from his tryout, and he reported to the Glads.

October 9: The Providence Bruins (AHL) assigned forward Lindsay Sparks to Atlanta and loaned defenseman Ben Marshall to the Gladiators. In a separate transaction, goalie Spencer Bacon, defenseman Eric Shand and forwards John Siemer, Garrett Milan and Tommy Fiorentino were released from their try-outs.

The Gladiators are members of the ECHL, the nation’s premier "AA" hockey league. All home games are played at the 11,355-seat Infinite Energy Arena, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth – where parking is always free.
