Last Thursday (10/12), the East Coweta Lady Indians and Peachtree Ridge Lady Lions met in the first round of the GHSA softball playoffs, and the Indians improved to 30-0 with a two-game sweep of the Lions. It was a fan's delight, as both teams played well. However, on this day the Indians were a little better and their fans went home a tad happier.

Kelly Lynch took the mound in the first game of the double header, and it was a pitching duel for the first three innings when the junior Auburn commit hurled a flawless game. Jones, the starting hurler for Peachtree Ridge, had a shutout going even though the Indians loaded the bases in the bottom of the third stanza.

The game was back and forth until the bottom of the 5th inning when the Indians broke the scoring open after Lily Agan singled to drive in Carmen Prior followed by Ansley Gunter reaching base. Vaughn then singled to score two more to give East Coweta a 3-0 advantage at the end of the inning. That is how the game would end.

Lynch had an outstanding performance in the Indians victory striking out 14 of the 23 batters she faced while only issuing two walks and surrendering a single hit.

The second game saw East Coweta win via shutout again, this time 5-0, with Vaughn, a senior commit to South Carolina, tossing a one-hitter. Lynch went yard in the opening stanza of the nightcap in what would turn out to be the game winning run.
