The Parkview Panthers baseball team squared off with Region 8-AAAAAA rival Grayson on Friday night and plated four runs before the Rams ever got to the plate. That was more than enough run support for Parkview senior hurler Mac Marshall, who has not surrendered an earned run this season. The lefty pitched 6.0 innings of scoreless ball on his way to his sixth win this season, and has now tossed 33 innings without surrendering an earned run.

The Parkview victory snapped Grayson’s nine-game winning streak and leaves the Panthers in sole possesion of the region lead. Parkview is 8-0 in league play, 14-3 overall, and are currently No. 5 in the MaxPreps Georgia AAAAAA rankings.

8-AAAAAA Standings

Marshall leads AAAAAA, Georgia’s top classification, in ERA (0.00), Batters Struck Out (48), and is tied for the lead in Wins (6) with Brooks Buckler. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Marshall is an LSU signee, but may be selected in the MLB First-Year Player Draft in June.

Teammate and fellow senior Christian Vann is fourth in ERA (1.02), and has notched a pair of wins.

The Panthers have one of the best staff of hurlers in the state and their bats are beginning to heat up. Parkview looks to be on their way to the season 8-AAAAAA title and should go deep in the state tourney.

Grayson (11-1, 7-1), Shiloh (10-7, 5-3), and Brookwood (8-9, 5-3) are still in the chase but the Rams are the most likely to challenge until the end of the regular season.
