Week 4 of the Georgia High School Association 2016 football season saw 17 of 24 Gwinnett County teams taking the field, including nine that battled non-county teams and four games that paired county teams. Mill Creek, Norcross, and Wesleyan won to remain undefeated heading to Week 5.

The first three weeks of the Georgia High School Association 2016 football season has included outstanding games, stellar individual efforts, and surprise starts-both good and bad-for a number of teams. Week 3 saw 19 of 24 Gwinnett County teams in action, 11 that squared off with non-county teams and four games that paired county teams.
Five of the Top 10 boys soccer teams in the Week 2 Score Atlanta 6A ranking are Gwinnett County teams. Brookwood, Parkview, Duluth, Mill Creek, and Norcross all represent the county in the ranking that is led by Lakeside-DeKalb.

The Georgia Swarm dropped a road game to the Calgary Roughnecks by a 12-11 count in Week 6 National Lacrosse League action. The loss leaves Georgia trailing both New England and Buffalo by a half-game in the five-team East Division.

The Atlanta Steam invited 40 players to the 2016 preseason camp, the fourth in the history of the franchise, 19 of which have Legends Football League (LFL) experience-including 12 of which are returning Steam players-along with 21 rookies trying to earn a spot on the 20-player active roster.
Gwinnett County teams hold down the top three spots in the Week 9 AAAAAA Score Atlanta Girls basketball ranking, and four of the top 10. Archer, Collins Hill, Norcross, and Parkview all began the week in the respected ranking. Buford (AAAA) is the only other county team to make the ranking in their respective classification.
Tahj Tolbert led Lanier to an 11-1 season. The Longhorns finished No. 9 in the final 2015 AAAAA composite ranking.
Despite the absence of a state football championship, an unusual occurrence in recent history, Gwinnett County has been well represented in the end of season rankings with eight teams that are in the final composite ranking Top 10 of their classification. Half of the teams (Mill Creek, Grayson, Archer, Peachtree Ridge) play in AAAAAA and were highlighted in an earlier article while the other half (Lanier, Buford, GAC, Wesleyan) play in smaller classifications (AAAAA, AAAA, AA), but deserve as much recognition for their outstanding seasons as the AAAAAA teams received for theirs.
