The last week has seen the Atlanta Braves improve their chances at a postseason appearance this season by adding a veteran starter to help stabilize the rotation while also adding depth to the bullpen and improving the bench both offensively and defensively. And while the actions were taken to improve the team’s chances at making it in to this postseason, they players acquired will make Atlanta a better team for the next season as well.
As the Atlanta Braves continue to improve their team for the 2017 regular season in their new home, Sun Trust Park, the team that’s 35 minutes northeast of Turner Field is making a HUGE statement that will help build the excitement of a Braves fan base that hasn’t seen their team go to the World Series since 1995.
The Gwinnett Braves won the Southern Division of the AAA International League to advance to the Governor’s Cup Playoffs where they will face the Columbus Clippers, winner of the Western Division of the IL.
The Atlanta Braves announced on Tuesday that John Moses has been selected as the new manager of the Gwinnett Braves. Moses replaces Rick Albert, who has been reassigned to the Braves’ Gulf Coast League affiliate.

The Gwinnett Braves (10-5) sit atop the International League South Division after the first two weeks of the 2016 season. At 10-5, not only does Gwinnett lead the Durham Bulls (9-6) by a game in the division, they also have the best mark in the league. The G-Braves are 5-2 at Coolray Field, 5-3 on the road after 15 games.
The G-Braves open the 2016 season on Thursday against the Norfolk Tides in Virginia. The Coolray Field opener is Thursday, April 14.

The Atlanta Braves announced the recipients of their 2015 Organization Awards last week, honoring the Minor League Pitchers and Players of the Year for each affiliate. Left-handed pitcher Manny Banuelos was named Gwinnett’s Pitcher of the Year, while third baseman Adonis Garcia was tabbed Gwinnett’s Player of the Year.
