As the Atlanta Braves continue to improve their team for the 2017 regular season in their new home, Sun Trust Park, the team that’s 35 minutes northeast of Turner Field is making a HUGE statement that will help build the excitement of a Braves fan base that hasn’t seen their team go to the World Series since 1995.
The Gwinnett Braves won the Southern Division of the AAA International League to advance to the Governor’s Cup Playoffs where they will face the Columbus Clippers, winner of the Western Division of the IL.

The Gwinnett Braves (10-5) sit atop the International League South Division after the first two weeks of the 2016 season. At 10-5, not only does Gwinnett lead the Durham Bulls (9-6) by a game in the division, they also have the best mark in the league. The G-Braves are 5-2 at Coolray Field, 5-3 on the road after 15 games.
The Mountain View Bears remain the top ranked Gwinnett team in the most recent SCORE Atlanta 6A baseball ranking.
The Week 6 SCORE Atlanta AAAAAA baseball ranking that was released earlier this week has four Gwinnett County teams in the top six of the state ranking. The teams, Mountain View (No. 3), Collins Hill (No. 4), Norcross (No. 5), and Parkview (No. 6), are a combined 53-17 on the season with the majority of the losses coming in head-to-head competition.
The G-Braves open the 2016 season on Thursday against the Norfolk Tides in Virginia. The Coolray Field opener is Thursday, April 14.

After an impressive showing at the Perfect Game Showcase that saw Mountain View earn wins in three of four games, the Bears moved from No. 3 to No. 2 in the SCORE Atlanta weekly AAAAAA ranking that was released on Monday. Collins Hill (No. 4), Parkview (No. 6), and Norcross (No. 10) join Mountain View making Gwinnett County home to four teams in the 6A Top 10.
The most recent Score Atlanta 6A baseball ranking has Mountain View and Collins Hill both ranked above Parkview after early season games that saw the Panthers lose to both teams by 2-1 scores on the way to a 3-3 start to the 2016 Georgia High School Association season.
After being named the 2015 baseball national champions by Max Preps, the Parkview Panthers begin the 2016 season No. 4 in the MP preseason ranking with Oxford (MS), Huntington Beach (CA), and Coppell (TX) holding down the top three spots in the ranking that was released last week.

There will be eight Gwinnett county AAAAAA teams taking the field today when the 2015 Georgia state baseball playoffs begin. Collins Hill, Mill Creek, North Gwinnett, and Mountain View will represent Region 7 while Archer, Brookwood, Parkview, and South Gwinnett will carry the banner for Region 8.
