With the final week of the GHSA football regular season upon us, Gwinnett County still has three teams that call the county home with undefated seasons. Lanier (AAAAA), Buford (AAAA) and Greater Atlanta Christian (AA) all head to Week 12 with perfect records looking to keep their spotless season marks.

Dacula took the field against Archer on Friday night with the opportunity to clinch the Region 8-AAAAAA championship with a victory over the defending region champions, but instead the Tigers handed the Falcons their first loss of the season. The Dacula loss combined with a Grayson win over Brookwood means that the region crown won't be decided until the final week of the season.

QB John Urzua and his North Gwinnett temmates are a win away form the Region 7-AAAAAA title.

Mill Creek traveled to Norcross on Friday night and did something the Hawks hadn’t done in eight previous games against the Blue Devils-won. Not only did Mill Creek defeat two-time defending AAAAAA champion Norcross, they did it convincingly by pitching a shutout on the way to a 30-0 victory that secured the Hawks spot in the state playoffs.

Johnathan Hawkins (24) is the workhorse for Mill Creek and will lead the ground assault against Norcross in a critical Week 11 game.

The GHSA 2014 football regular season is down to two more weeks and there is much still to be determined across the state of Georgia and Gwinnett County is no different. Both Region 7 and 8 in AAAAAA, the state’s largest classification, have yet to be decided but that could change on Friday night when many of the teams challenging for the titles will square off.

North Gwinnett quarterback John Urzua is the Gwinnett Sports Report Offensive Player of the Week for Week 10 after passing for 399 yards and seven touchdowns in the Bulldogs blowout win over Duluth, 71-24.

Lanier senior linebacker Jeremy Taylor made 16 solo tackles, including two for losses, in the Longhorn win over Salem in a critical Region 8-AAAAA game in Week 10 and has been selected as the Gwinnett Sports Report Defensive Player of the Week.

Grayson went on the road to take on Dacula in a battle of undefeated teams in Week 10 and the Falcons came away as the lone remaining undefeated team in Region 8-AAAAAA after handing the Rams their first loss of the season, 27-17. The victory gives Dacula the region lead while Grayson falls a game back in the loss column. Defending region champion Archer won their fifth straight game after beginning the season 0-3 and is still in the hunt for the title.

Peachtree Ridge gives Norcross their first region loss in in blowout style, 35-2.

The Norcross Blue Devils began Week 10 play as the lone undefeated team in Region 7-AAAAAA and finish as one of four teams that sit at 4-1 after falling to the Peachtree Ridge Lions in blowout style on Friday night, 35-2. Mill Creek and North Gwinnett won their games by large margins to join Norcross and Peachtree Ridge with 4-1 league marks with just two weeks remaining in the regular season.

Brent carried the ball 30 times for 153 yards and a touchdown in Grayson's 28-0 shutout win against Central.
