PR D Gibbs 1242016

Deangelo Gibbs (8), the No. 1 rated Class of 2017 prospect, was one of two players from the class that moved from Peachtree Ridge to Grayson last week.

Peachtree Ridge football lost two top players from the Class of 2017 last week when both Deangelo Gibbs and Breon Dixon transferred to Grayson, also a Gwinnett County school. While the intra-county transfers must be disappointing for the Lions faithful, the Rams fan base is sure to be energized by the addition of two of the state’s top players.

LL QB Tahj Tolbert 1

Tahj Tolbert led Lanier to an 11-1 season. The Longhorns finished No. 9 in the final 2015 AAAAA composite ranking.

Despite the absence of a state football championship, an unusual occurrence in recent history, Gwinnett County has been well represented in the end of season rankings with eight teams that are in the final composite ranking Top 10 of their classification. Half of the teams (Mill Creek, Grayson, Archer, Peachtree Ridge) play in AAAAAA and were highlighted in an earlier article while the other half (Lanier, Buford, GAC, Wesleyan) play in smaller classifications (AAAAA, AAAA, AA), but deserve as much recognition for their outstanding seasons as the AAAAAA teams received for theirs.
