The opening round of the 2015 Georgia High School Association football playoffs saw 12 Gwinnett County teams in action, including eight from AAAAAA with half from Region 7 and half from Region 8. Mill Creek, Peachtree Ridge, Collins Hill, and Norcross were the four Region 7 representatives that began the playoffs, and three of them will advance to the next round after Friday night wins.

AA, AAAA, AAAAA Gwinnett playoff preview

In addition to the eight AAAAAA teams from Gwinnett County that will be taking the field in the opening round of the Georgia High School Association football playoffs, there will be four teams that play in smaller classifications that will be in action. Lanier (AAAAA), Buford (AAAA), and Greater Atlanta Christian (AA) all won their region and are No. 1 seeds while Wesleyan (AA) is a No. 3 seed.

Gwinnett AAAAAA playoff preview

The 2015 Georgia High School Association football regular season is completed and the opening of the state playoffs is upon us. It was another year of outstanding football across Georgia, and Gwinnett County provided some of the best. There will be 12 county teams taking the field in the opening round of the GHSA playoffs with eight playing in AAAAAA, Georgia’s largest classification, one each in AAAAA and AAAA and two in AA.

Grayson completed the regular season schedule undefeated and sits on top of the final Gwinnett Sports Report AAAAAA Power Ranking for county teams this season. Archer had one loss (to Grayson) and is No. 2 with Mill Creek, the lone unbeaten Region 7 team, No. 3. Peachtree Ridge and Central Gwinnett round out the Top 5 followed by Collins Hill, Norcross, Parkview, Brookwood, and Dacula.

Lanier, Buford, GAC win region titles

Gwinnett County fields 23 high school football teams, 17 of which play in AAAAAA and six that play in smaller classifications. This is a review of the Week 12 Georgia High School Association (GHSA) schedule for those teams. Lanier finished the regular season undefeated to join Mill Creek and Grayson, both AAAAAA teams, as the three unbeaten teams from Gwinnett County.

Grayson, Archer, and Central Gwinnett remain the top three teams in the final 2015 AAAAAA-Region 8 Power Ranking, but Parkview climbs to No. 4 as a result of downing Dacula. Shiloh also moved up a notch thanks to their victory over South Gwinnett, the Generals third consecutive win.

Parkview defeated Dacula on the final Friday of the regular season to join Grayson, Archer, and Central Gwinnett as the representatives in the Georgia High School Association football playoffs from AAAAAA-Region 8.

After five straight weeks without change, the AAAAAA-Region 7 Power Ranking for Week 12 sees two teams swap places as a result of the Collins Hill win over Norcross. The remaining six teams are in the same positions they have been since Week 6 of the season.

The final week of the Georgia High School Association regular season saw some great football across the state of Georgia, and AAAAAA-Region 7 had some of the best. Week 12 included Peachtree Ridge visiting Mill Creek in a game that would decide the league championship as well as Collins Hill and Norcross squaring off for the No. 3 seed in the GHSA playoffs.

Grayson, Archer, and Central Gwinnett have secured their appearance in the Georgia High School Association state football playoffs from AAAAAA-Region 8, but the final league representative won’t be determined until the results of the final week of the regular season.
