Gwinnett County fields 23 high school football teams, 17 of which play in AAAAAA and six that play in smaller classifications (A, AA, AAAA, and AAAAA). This is a review of the Week 11 Georgia High School Association (GHSA) schedule for those teams.

Grayson cheerleaders and fans have much to be happy about with the Rams heading to Week 11 of the regular season undefeated and on top of the GSR Gwinnett 6A Power Ranking.

Grayson and Mill Creek are the last unbeaten Gwinnett County teams in AAAAAA and are the Nos.1 and 3 teams in the Gwinnett Sports Report Week 10 Power Ranking. Archer, with one loss (to Grayson), is No. 2. The GSR AAAAAA Power Ranking includes the 17 teams that play in Georgia’s largest classification. The ranking is released weekly during the Georgia High School Association regular season.

The top two teams in the Week 10 AAAAAA Region 8 Power Ranking remain the same after Grayson and Archer both won big. Parkview falls two spots to No. 5 after losing to previously winless Shiloh allowing Dacula (No. 3) and Brookwood (No. 4) to each move up a notch. Central Gwinnett, South Gwinnett, Shiloh and Berkmar remain Nos. 6 – 9.

Peachtree Ridge sophomore quarterback Fred Payton (9) led the Lions to a 31-0 win over Norcross in a big Region 7 Week 10 game. 

The AAAAAA Region 7 Power Ranking for Week 10 is the same as the previous week because the team with the higher ranking won every game. Mill Creek downed Collins Hill by 25 points and Peachtree Ridge beat previously undefeated Norcross in shutout fashion, 31-0 to reinforce their spots as No.1 and 2. The ranking has been unchanged for four consecutive weeks.

Gwinnett Football Week 10: AAAAAA Region 8

Grayson locked up their sixth region title in the last eight years along with the No. 1 seed from Region 8 in the Georgia High School Association playoffs with a big win in Week 10, but there are five teams still in contention for the remaining three postseason slots going to the final two weeks of regular season action.

Gwinnett Football Week 10: AAAAAA Region 7

The week began with Collins Hill, Mill Creek, Norcross and Peachtree Ridge all undefeated in AAAAAA Region 7 and ended with the Hawks and Lions as the two remaining teams with perfect region records.

Four Gwinnett County softball teams have advanced to the Georgia High School Association AAAAAA quarterfinals in Columbus after second-round wins. Region 7 teams Mill Creek and North Gwinnett along with Archer and Brookwood, both out of Region 8, will be representing the county as they attempt to advance to the semifinals.

With three weeks remaining in the Georgia High School Association football schedule there are six teams in AAAAAA Region 8 that are battling for one of four berths to the state playoffs.

Undefeated 6A Region 7 leaders clash in Week 10

There are four teams that start Week 10 of the Georgia High School Association undefeated in AAAAAA Region 7 play but that will be reduced by half after Peachtree Ridge visits Norcross and Mill Creek travels to Collins Hill on Friday. The Hawks and Blue Devils are undefeated overall while the Eagles and Lions are without a loss in the league.
