As usual, Week 8 of the Georgia High School Association football season included a number of outstanding efforts by Gwinnett County players. Gwinnett Sports Report has selected five that stand out as the Top Performances of the Week.
Week 7 of the Georgia High School Association 2016 football season saw 18 of 24 Gwinnett County teams take the field, including 8 that took on non-county opponents in region contests, winning five of the eight games.
The SCORE softball rankings for Week 7 include seven Gwinnett teams representing three classifications, including half of the state’s largest class, AAAAAAA. The top ranked team in AAAAA also calls Gwinnett home.
The Touchdown Club of Gwinnett announced their selections for the Team of the Month during the monthly banquet that was hosted by Brookwood on Wednesday night.
Week 6 of the Georgia High School Association 2016 football season saw 21 of 24 Gwinnett County teams taking the field, including 11 that battled non-county teams and five games that were region openers for county teams.

The Atlanta Steam began the 2016 season looking to establish themselves as the team to beat in the Eastern Conference of the Legends (Lingerie) Football League, but instead finished with a 1-3-1 overall record which included another season ending loss to the Chicago Bliss in the post season-the third in three years. Adding to the disappointment is the fact that the lone Atlanta win this season came against lowly Omaha.

Gwinnett County football includes outstanding efforts week in and week out, and the best of the best are highlighted in the GSR Impact Performers of the Week Shoutout. Central Gwinnett quarterback Jarren Williams and Mill Creek placekicker Brenton King turned in stellar games that were key to their team earning wins in Week 4 action.

Week 4 of the Georgia High School Association 2016 football season saw 17 of 24 Gwinnett County teams taking the field, including nine that battled non-county teams and four games that paired county teams. Mill Creek, Norcross, and Wesleyan won to remain undefeated heading to Week 5.
This is the first of a weekly listing of games involving county teams. With region action drawing near, the stakes are high every week in a county with such incredible competition, so scoreboard watching becomes a necessity.
