Three AAAAAA-Region 7 Gwinnett County teams took the field in the second round of the Georgia High School Association football playoffs on Friday night, but only two will be moving on to the quarterfinals. While Mill Creek, Peachtree Ridge, and Collins Hill all won their opening round contest to advance to the Sweet 16, just the Hawks and Eagles will advance to the next round.

Lanier, Buford, GAC, Wesleyan playoff preview

Lanier (AAAAA), Buford (AAAA), Greater Atlanta Christian (AA), and Wesleyan (AA) all were victorious in the first round of the Georgia High School Association football playoffs, and will take the field on Friday night in the next round of the state championships.

AAAAAA-Region 7 Round 2 football playoff preview

Three of the four AAAAAA-Region 7 Gwinnett County teams won their opening Georgia High School Association football playoff game last Friday and will be playing in Round 2 this week. Mill Creek, Peachtree Ridge, and Collins Hill all won to advance to the Sweet 16.

A Steam OPener 2015

The Steam team that meets at midfield ahead of the 2016 season opener will look very different than the one that gathered ahead of the 2015 season opener.

After announcing the newest franchise to join the league on Tuesday (New England Liberty), the Legends Football League released their 2016 schedule on Wednesday, revealing opening night is set for Saturday, April 9 with the Austin Acoustic and Seattle Mist meeting.

Lanier (AAAAA), Buford (AAAA), Greater Atlanta Christian (AA), and Wesleyan (AA) all advanced to the next round of the Georgia High School Association football playoffs with wins on Friday night. In addition to the wins from the non-AAAAAA schools, the AAAAAA teams went 6-2 in the first round which gave Gwinnett County teams a 10-2 record for the opening week of the football championships.

The opening round of the 2015 Georgia High School Association football playoffs saw 12 Gwinnett County teams in action, including eight from AAAAAA, four each from Regions 7 and 8. Grayson, Archer, Central Gwinnett, and Parkview took the field in the opening round as the Region 8 representatives. Like Region 7, Region 8 will have three teams moving on to the Sweet 16 after Friday night victories.

AA, AAAA, AAAAA Gwinnett playoff preview

In addition to the eight AAAAAA teams from Gwinnett County that will be taking the field in the opening round of the Georgia High School Association football playoffs, there will be four teams that play in smaller classifications that will be in action. Lanier (AAAAA), Buford (AAAA), and Greater Atlanta Christian (AA) all won their region and are No. 1 seeds while Wesleyan (AA) is a No. 3 seed.

Gwinnett AAAAAA playoff preview

The 2015 Georgia High School Association football regular season is completed and the opening of the state playoffs is upon us. It was another year of outstanding football across Georgia, and Gwinnett County provided some of the best. There will be 12 county teams taking the field in the opening round of the GHSA playoffs with eight playing in AAAAAA, Georgia’s largest classification, one each in AAAAA and AAAA and two in AA.

Gladiators go 3-0 in Week 4 ECHL action

The Atlanta Gladiators went on the road and swept the Idaho Steelheads in a three-game series to extend their win streak to five games. The Gladiators are now 6-2-1 (13 points) after nine games, good for second in the five-team South Division of the Eastern Conference of the ECHL, the premier “AA” hockey league.
