The Gwinnett Daily Post released the highly-respected All-County Baseball First and Second Teams for the 2016 season earlier this week, including the Player, Pitcher, and Coach of the Year selections.
The Norcross boys basketball team posted the second best regular season record in the history of the school on the way to an undefeated region mark, and the Blue Devils head to the region tournament as the top ranked AAAAAA team in the final regular season SCORE Atlanta poll released on Tuesday morning.
Gwinnett County teams hold down the top three spots in the Week 9 AAAAAA Score Atlanta Girls basketball ranking, and four of the top 10. Archer, Collins Hill, Norcross, and Parkview all began the week in the respected ranking. Buford (AAAA) is the only other county team to make the ranking in their respective classification.

Archer defeated North Forsyth in the Georgia High School Association AAAAAA dual wrestling state championships last Saturday at the Macon Centreplex to earn their fourth consecutive dual title. The win extends the Tigers meet win streak to an incredible 95 that dates back to the 2012 season.
Mill Creek defeated Brookwood on Saturday afternoon to capture the GHSA AAAAAA softball championship.
The Georgia High School Association AAAAAA softball championship game paired Mill Creek and Brookwood, both Gwinnett County teams, on Saturday afternoon at the Columbus Softball Complex where the Hawks came out on top of the Broncos by a 5-2 score to capture the 2015 state title.Mill Creek defeated Brookwood 2-0 on Friday night in the winner’s bracket before the two teams met again after the Broncos beat East Coweta in the finals of the loser’s bracket to advance to the rematch.

Just two weeks remain in the Georgia High School Association regular season football schedule, yet five teams are still competing for playoff spots in AAAAAA-Region 8.
Grayson cheerleaders and fans have much to be happy about with the Rams heading to Week 11 of the regular season undefeated and on top of the GSR Gwinnett 6A Power Ranking.
Grayson and Mill Creek are the last unbeaten Gwinnett County teams in AAAAAA and are the Nos.1 and 3 teams in the Gwinnett Sports Report Week 10 Power Ranking. Archer, with one loss (to Grayson), is No. 2. The GSR AAAAAA Power Ranking includes the 17 teams that play in Georgia’s largest classification. The ranking is released weekly during the Georgia High School Association regular season.

Grayson locked up their sixth region title in the last eight years along with the No. 1 seed from Region 8 in the Georgia High School Association playoffs with a big win in Week 10, but there are five teams still in contention for the remaining three postseason slots going to the final two weeks of regular season action.

Four Gwinnett County softball teams have advanced to the Georgia High School Association AAAAAA quarterfinals in Columbus after second-round wins. Region 7 teams Mill Creek and North Gwinnett along with Archer and Brookwood, both out of Region 8, will be representing the county as they attempt to advance to the semifinals.
