Gladiators open December third in ECHL South

The Atlanta Gladiators (11-8-1-1, 24 Points) head to the third month of the ECHL season in a tie for third place with the South Carolina Stingrays (10-4-3-1, 24 Points) in the South Division. Both Atlanta and South Carolina trail the Florida Everblades (16-2-1-2, 35 Points) and the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (12-7-2-0, 26 Points). The Orlando Solar Bears (8-10-3-0, 19 Points), Norfolk Admirals (7-13-0-1, 15 Points) and Jacksonville Icemen (4-11-2-1, 11 Points) round out the standings.

Atlanta Gladiators 2017: Week of November 13

The Atlanta Gladiators (7-4-0-1, 15 Points) continued their winning ways last week, running their win streak to four games with a win against Norfolk (5-4), and two against South Carolina (3-2, 2-1). Even more impressive is that all were on the road, and all were decided in OT.

Gladiators open training camp Sunday

The Atlanta Gladiators open the 2017-2018 campaign with a two-week training camp that will be held at their official practice facility, the Duluth IceForum. The camp starts this weekend, and all on-ice practice sessions held at the IceForum are open to the public at NO COST.

The Atlanta Steam began the 2016 season looking to establish themselves as the team to beat in the Eastern Conference of the Legends (Lingerie) Football League, but instead finished with a 1-3-1 overall record which included another season ending loss to the Chicago Bliss in the post season-the third in three years. Adding to the disappointment is the fact that the lone Atlanta win this season came against lowly Omaha.

The Georgia Swarm announced two new additions, including a Marietta native, and the re-signing of two other players to the club earlier this month. The moves are part of preparation for the Swarm’s second National Lacrosse League season as representatives of Atlanta.

Randy Staats led Georgia in scoring, and is a leading contender for the NLL Rookie of the Year after being selected with the No. 6 overall pick in last season's draft.

The National Lacrosse League released the official order of selection for the 2016 NLL Draft late last week, including compensatory selections awarded to teams ahead of the 2017 season, and the Georgia Swarm owns the Nos. 4, 8 and 10 selections in the opening round. The Swarm will have 12 picks, including 10 in the first three rounds, in this year’s draft.

The Atlanta Steam (1-0) will face the Los Angeles Temptation (2-1) on Saturday night in their final home game of the 2016 season in the first meeting between the two franchises. The outcome of the East-West meeting at the Infinite Energy Arena will have a big impact on the postseason life of both teams.

Former Breeze trio key to Steam success

Former Jacksonville Breeze stars Adrian Purnell, Lauran Ziegler, and Dina Wojowoski are set for their second saeason with the Atlanta Steam.

Week 8 of the 2016 Legends Football League, formerly known as the Lingerie Football League, season is here and the Atlanta Steam (0-0) will host the Omaha Heart (1-0) on Friday, June 3 at the Infinite Energy Arena in the Steam season opener. The East Division contest is the first of two home games this season.

The Atlanta Steam (0-0) still have 18 days to wait before they play their first game of the 2016 LFL season which will come on June 3 when the Omaha Heart (1-0) visit the Infinite Energy Arena looking to end two years of Atlanta domination. While the revamped Omaha team already has more wins (1) than they have managed over the last two years, look for the Steam unleash a pent up fury that has been building over the last two months while preparing for the season and scoreboard watching.
