Despite losing to East Division rival New England (11-8) in the opening round of the National Lacrosse League playoffs, Georgia (8-11) had a successful year in Georgia after relocating from Minnesota ahead of the 2016 season.

The Georgia Swarm (8-10) will travel to New England to play the Black Wolves (10-8) on Saturday evening in the opening round of the National Lacrosse League playoffs. The Swarm finished third in the East Division while the Wolves were second. The victor will advance to face the Buffalo Bandits (13-5) to decide the division title.

The Georgia Swarm (7-10) was defeated by the New England Black Wolves (10-6) on Sunday in Week 17 National Lacrosse League action. The loss at Mohegan Sun Arena snaps the Swarm three-game win streak, but Georgia can still earn a trip to the playoffs with a win at home in the final week of the regular season against the Vancouver Stealth (5-11).

The Georgia Swarm (5-9) took the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Field on Sunday afternoon to face the Colorado Mammoth (10-4) with their postseason future barely alive and responded by delivering arguable the best game of the season on the way to a seven-goal victory against Colorado, 17-10, in Week 15 National Lacrosse League action.

The Austin Acoustics will play their first LFL game on Saturday when they visit the Seattle Mist for Week 1 of the 2016 season. 

When the 2016 Legends Football League (LFL) opens on Saturday with the Austin Acoustics, one of three first-year teams in the league this season, visiting defending league champion Seattle Mist, Austin won’t be the only ones taking part in their first LFL game. Dessie Mitcheson will be making her first appearance as the LFL sideline reporter.

The Georgia Swarm (4-9) played host to the Buffalo Bandits (9-4) at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Field at Infinite Energy Arena in Week 14 of the National Lacrosse League on Saturday night knowing that their postseason life was at stake, but that didn’t help the home team hold a 4th quarter lead on the way to a 18-14 loss-the fifth straight for the club.

The Georgia Swarm (4-8) was home against the Calgary Roughnecks (6-7) on Friday night in a Week 13 non-division National Lacrosse League contest looking to end a three-game loss streak but, despite holding an 11-8 advantage late in the third quarter, the visitors scored six unanswered goals in the final quarter to go home with a 16-12 win.

Swarm fall to Knighthawks at home, 11-4

The Georgia Swarm (4-7) fell at home to the Rochester Knighthawks (6-5) on Friday night in a critical East Division game by an 11-4 count. The loss drops Georgia 2.0 games behind Rochester for the third and final playoff spot from the division.

Georgia (4-6) traveled to Saskatchewan (6-3) on Saturday for a National Lacrosse League meeting that paired East and West Division clubs. The Swarm fell behind the Rush early and never mounted a serious challenge en route to a 14-8 loss that leaves Georgia fourth in the five-team East. The win keeps Saskatchewan on the heels of Colorado for the top spot in the four-team West.

Head coach Dane Robinson led the Atlanta Steam onto the field for the final sessions of the preseason last weekend with veterans fighting to keep their starting jobs and rookies fighting to make the roster. After evaluating the player performances over the last month, Robinson and his experienced staff made the final decisions about which athletes would wear the red and black this season. As expected, the final roster includes several new faces.
