The Atlanta Gladiators began March with 4-2 home loss to the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday night which was followed by back-to-back losses to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in a home-and-home set on Saturday and Sunday. The Gladiators were outscored by the Rabbits 10-2 (6-1, 4-1) in the two game set.

The most recent Atlanta Steam depth chart, released by head coach Dane Robinson on Monday, reflects evaluations following the weekend minicamp. The chart, the second released for the 2016 season, has few changes from the first. While the practices did much to solidify some positions there are battles at tight end on the offensive side of the ball as well as defensive end (L), cornerback (L and R), and free safety on the defensive side.

Georgia (4-5) heads to their first bye week of the season tied with Rochester (3-4) for third in the East Division of the National Lacrosse League. The Swarm and Knighthawks trail New England (5-2) and Buffalo (5-4) in the five-team division. Toronto (2-6) currently is the cellar dweller.

Swarm visit Bandits in NLL Week 8 action

The Georgia Swarm (3-4) will travel to New York to play the Buffalo Bandits (4-2) in Week 8 of the National Lacrosse League regular season schedule. The same teams squared off last week with the Swarm losing at home by a 21-14 final.

Georgia will take the field fourth in the East, trailing both Buffalo and New England (4-2) by 1.5 games and Rochester (3-2) by a half-game in the five-team division. The Swarm has a 4.0 game advantage over the Toronto Rock (0-6).

Santia Deck is one of the rookies taking part in the Steam preseason mini-camps that has been named by head coach Dane Robinson as a potential "impact player" in the LFL.


The Atlanta Steam are preparing for their fourth LFL season with a series of mini-camps ahead of opening day that include an unusual number of new faces. The combination of Steam veterans retiring and the new free agent system has opened the door for newcomers to fill almost half of the 2016 active roster.

This is the first of two articles that introduces rookies that have a real opportunity to wear the black and red this season. Arryana Barton, Brianna Brown, Santia Deck, and Danielle DiCaterino are the subjects of the first of the two articles.

The Georgia Swarm (3-4) lost to the Buffalo Bandits (4-2) by a 21-14 final in a National Lacrosse League Week 7 contest that paired East Division teams separated by a half-game. While the loss drops Georgia to fourth in the five team division, the Swarm is only 1.5 games behind division leaders Buffalo and New England (4-2).

The Infinite Energy Arena (formerly Arena at Gwinnett Center) in Gwinnett County will host the 2016 Georgia High School Association Traditional Wrestling Championships which begin on Thursday and conclude on Saturday. The three-day event will determine team champions as well as 84 individual state champions across Georgia’s six classifications.

The Georgia Swarm dropped a road game to the Calgary Roughnecks by a 12-11 count in Week 6 National Lacrosse League action. The loss leaves Georgia trailing both New England and Buffalo by a half-game in the five-team East Division.

The Atlanta Gladiators begin February in second place in the South Division of the ECHL after posting a 6-7-0-1 mark during January action. The 13 point month improved the Gladiators season total to 53 (25-17-2-1), placing them No. 5 in the 14 team Eastern Conference with 27 games remaining in the regular season.
