Coco Montgomery (1), one of the handful of original Steam members retruning this season, has the edge in the battle for the No. 1 tight end slot. 

The Atlanta Steam invited 40 players to the 2016 preseason camp, the fourth in the history of the franchise, 19 of which have Legends Football League (LFL) experience-including 12 of which are returning Steam players-along with 21 rookies trying to earn a spot on the 20-player active roster.

Amanda Ruller (16) joins Atlanta after spending time with Los Angeles and is one of those competing for the starting running back job.

The Georgia Swarm began the final quarter of Sunday’s National Lacrosse League game trailing the visiting New England Black Wolves by just a goal, 6-5, but lost the first home game of their inaugural season after being outscored 5-1 in the in the final stanza en route to the 11-6 final score.

The Atlanta Gladiators begin 2016 in second place in the South Division of the ECHL after posting a 9-3-1 mark in December action. The 19 point month improved the Gladiators season total to 40 (19-10-2), placing them No. 4 in the 14 team Eastern Conference.

The Georgia Swarm began their inaugural National Lacrosse League season with a 16-15 road loss against the Colorado Mammoth on New Year’s Day. The one-goal defeat marks the beginning of professional indoor lacrosse in Gwinnett County, home to the relocated Swarm.
